Find familiar supermarket and pharmacy chains in 30 countries, plus the grocery and pharmacy delivery services visitors can use. The country entries help you recognize a chain on sight, check delivery availability, and plan whether an order can reach a hotel or short-term rental. No prices and no what-to-buy advice: this is a where-to-buy reference only. For what to pack from home before you go, see Travel Packing; for water safety, see Tap Water.
30 countries across five regions. Chains are the ones a visitor is most likely to actually see on the street — this is not a ranking or a recommendation of one over another.
Search the chain's name, or just "supermarket" / "pharmacy", on Google Maps or Apple Maps once you have your hotel or Airbnb's exact address — every GuideMyDays guide's hotel banner lists it. Both show current opening hours and whether a branch is open right now.
In city centers, a small-format branch of the country's dominant chain (Tesco Express, Carrefour City, Sainsbury's Local, a 7-Eleven) is usually within a few minutes' walk of any central hotel, even where the full-size supermarket is further out.
Hotel — most hotels don't let a courier up to the room directly. Give the delivery app the hotel's name and street address, and add "hold for guest [name], arriving via front desk" in the delivery notes. The front desk holds the order and calls or texts the room; ask at check-in if you're expecting a delivery so staff know to expect it.
Short-term rental — there's no front desk, so building access matters more than the street address: unit number, buzzer or intercom code, gate or lockbox code, and floor. Put that in the app's delivery notes, and message your host in advance if the building needs a code or a doorman to let a courier in. Without an answer, most couriers leave the order at the main entrance or mailbox area.
Chain names and delivery-app availability change without much notice, especially quick-commerce apps, which have consolidated and exited markets repeatedly. Confirm an app is still live in your destination before relying on it.
