The Navagio viewpoint is most dramatic between 10:00am and 1:00pm when the sun is high enough to fully illuminate the cove. Coach groups arrive from 10:00am — get there before or after to have the platform almost to yourself.

Gerakas Beach closes strictly at dusk and park rangers enforce this actively. Leave by 6:30pm in peak season — rangers will ask you to go and the car park closes shortly after.

Zakynthos Town's colonnaded arcades along Lomvardou were rebuilt in Venetian style after the 1953 earthquake destroyed most of the island. Walking the promenade at dusk it reads as an intact 18th-century Venetian port city.

Ladotyri cheese is sold in small jars at the covered market stalls on Plateia Agiou Markou — excellent with bread for a packed beach lunch. Pick it up on the way out of town on Day 2 before driving to Cape Keri.
